The 30 minute workout

Has your life ever been so busy that even sparing 30 minutes seems too much? I don’t know about you, but some days I feel like I will never get an actual 30 minute to myself outside of sleep. Between the kids, work, and home duties, I definitely don’t want to spend the little time I do have to myself, exercising. Unfortunately, the way my thighs have been rubbing together and this creepy midlife midsection crisis, my body demands otherwise.

I realized I had to devise a way to actually incorporate some sort of exercise regimen in my daily routine. The only time I get to myself is in the restroom, whether at home or at work. This was my chosen “me time,” I decided to use in order to come up with a workout plan.

Six times a day, I have 5 minute “potty” break workouts. You can do whatever works best for you. Maybe five, 6 minute workouts, or three 10 minute workouts will do the trick. The key is to just get moving. I use the following workout to get things going:

Workout 1, 3 and 5

  • 1minute walking in place
  • 1 minute high knees
  • 30 squats
  • 30 seconds walking in place
  • 1 minute side twist
  • 1 minute air punches

Workout 2, 4 and 6

  • 1 minute walking in place
  • 1 minute running in place
  • 30 leg lunges
  • 30 seconds walking in place
  • 30 second wall sit
  • 30 seconds walking in place
  • 1 minute side stretches

Side note: None of this matters if you don’t eat right!
